2020 Call for Proposals for the Kentucky Storytelling Conference

In order to fulfill our mission and goals we are seeking all ideas for workshop sessions on any aspect of the art of storytelling. To see our mission and goals, go to http://www.kystory.org. Select “about KSA” to view the mission and goals. To see our 2019 Conference Workshops, select “Conference” then “Workshop sessions.”  Have an idea?  Send it on!

We want to offer a workshop for beginning storytellers.  We’ve offered them before, and they are both popular and repeatedly requested.  Additional workshop topics, requested after past conferences, include:  turning a written story into an oral story, working with folktales and fairy tales, adapting a family story, how to start a youth storytelling group, different styles of telling, character development, stage presence, stories for leadership, choosing an opening line, ending a story, creating a story from a nursery rhyme, healing stories, developing promotional material, tandem telling,  marketing and how to run your business, using stories at work.  However we are open to all ideas.

Conference dates: Friday and Saturday, November 6, and November 7, 2020.

Conference location: Ramada Lexington North Hotel and Conference Center, 2143 North Broadway Lexington, Kentucky, 40505, in east central Kentucky, along combined I-64 & I-75.  The room rate at the Ramada is $59.99 plus approximately $10.00 tax (16.07%) per night (tax rate is as of 2/1/20).

Workshop presenters receive free conference registration and are paid a $175 honorarium for a 60-minute session, and a $300 honorarium for a 120-minute session (with a 10 minute break for a total of 130 minutes).  Please note that the honoraria are paid per workshop, not per presenter.  Any expenses, including travel, food, and lodging are your responsibility.  All workshops are ASL interpreted if requested by a conference registrant.

Proposal deadline:  April 1, 2020.  Notifications will be sent to you by May 15, 2020.

Contact: Proposal deadline is April 1, 2020 to Charles Wright at [email protected] or 65 Springhill Road, Frankfort, KY
